First quarter sales report directly from Basel Switzerland at novartis.com "Basel, 17 April 1997 - In the first quarter of 1997, global Life Sciences leader Novartis achieved sales of 8.2 billion Swiss francs. The increase, 8% in local currencies, represents a 22% growth in Swiss francs owing to the strong positive currency effect. Growth was particularly strong in Pharmaceuticals, thanks to a good start in the key U.S. market. Turnover also increased significantly in Crop Protection and Seeds. The divestiture of non-core businesses was completed with the successful spin-off of Ciba Specialty Chemicals." No income statement. Is this why the price was up today?
