Looking after market speculation which has no discrenible effect on the real economy is outside the Fed's charter. That should answer your question.

If the massive increases in the stock market are concentrated in a few hands, I seriously doubt if it is going to lead to consumer inflation. How many Jaguars can one buy, after all? OTOH, if that money is distributed evenly, a lot of Honda Accords will get bought.
