I do not think you want to configure the jaz as a harddrive. I tried it once (with an MO removable drive). It worked but you can no longer remove the drive...well you can but the system will crash. If it were configured as a harddrive the suggestion would be to change it to removable.

I would boot without a disc in the Jaz drive...just in case NT does not like the format.

It sounds like it may be an issue with the SCSI bios and the Jaz bios. The pause comes after recognition..seems like the talking phase between the JAZ bios and the SCSI bios...then this failure causes the NT BSOD. Just guessing as usual, perhaps just stating the obvious.

Can you flash the bios on the JAZ?

What about some of the other SCSI settings in the bios. What if you slow the transfer rate? down for the JAZ ID?

I do not think changing the ID will work. The important thing is to not have any two devices with the same ID...you do not as all devices are recognized.
