Hey Tony,

<< PB2, OFF TOPIC, maybe with Intel stock being in the doldrums these days, we should start a sub-thread on storage here. Are you still more into the fiber connectivity companies like ANCR, or have you pursued the storage box makers? Jeez, ANCR up $21 today. >>

There is the "A Fibre Channel Future?" thread here in under Communications. Every now and then good stuff re; FC vs. NAS and storage news. And yes, I am still holding a chunk of my beloved Ancor. ;-) They are from my hometown, so it's kind of a sentimental thing. I was really excited to see they are working with Intel. Glad to see them buying shares at ~52 bucks.

And yes, I have picked up a little more of the box maker Dell down here bc I think they are actually an interesting SAN play. Brocade supplies switches to them currently, and I believe the CEO of Brocade said at the SSB conference on tuesday that they were shipping strong. Direct order smaller NT SANs. not flashy, but Dell is no doubt gonna be back up some day.

As far as other 'box players' as storage plays? that is a good question. i like Dell the best over gate, cpq, ibm, hwp. sunw may turn out to be a storage power up there with emc someday. i like Intel of course, with their server farm/asp attitude.

optics are still hot, so i was wondering what you liked Tony if you have the chance? i own a little of a company called LUMM, bc they may supply one of the big networkers some day with optical chips (ie. for csco routers possibly). but they are VERY risky.

thanks for any thoughts,
all imho
