For Samsung, the greatest advantage to buying the Q's handset division would be the brand name. I would never buy a Samsung brand product, but I would have no problem buying a Qualcomm brand product made by Samsung. The acquisition would automatically put Samsung right behind Nokia for digital handsets sold in North America.
I think there is plenty of motivation for Samsung.
