Thomas. It's a good thing you do your own thinking. The clowns at Individual Investor just guess when they pick stocks. They don't seem to possess the ability to ask the right questions of an investment! I just visited their web site and noticed they recapped Uromed's results this week but forgot to address the contradicting strategy issues behind Uromed's recent product acquisitions.

If there is a demonstrated market for Uromed's Reliance product, then Rochester Medical is going to eat Uromed's lunch in early '98 when they introduce a superior product design. In the meantime, Uromed will be spending marketing dollars creating product awareness which will inevitably benefit Rochester Medical. However, the issue of infection is real with either company's product and as you have alluded this will not be treated as a minor issue with prescribing physicians.

The bottom line with these devices is that they don't improve or correct the underlying patient condition. I envision these devices will be mostly prescribed as a "stop-gap" measure while patients undergo pelvic floor stimulation therapy, or in situations where this therapy can not be undertaken.
