PowerCerv to Strengthen E-Commerce Offerings With Award-Winning Shipping Management Software Solution
- New Agreement Provides Mid-Market Customers a Logistics Solution to Gathering Routing, Rate and Carrier Information From Major Carriers -
TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 7, 1999-- PowerCerv (Nasdaq:PCRV - news) customers now can streamline and simplify their logistics processes with the addition of an integrated shipping management module.

PowerCerv, a leading provider of Enterprise Application Software Solutions for the mid-market, today announced an agreement with Kewill Electronic Commerce, Inc. Under the agreement, PowerCerv will offer Clippership 32®, Kewill's award-winning, multi-carrier shipment processing software for Windows, as an integrated optional module in its PowerCerv ERP Plus(TM) product.

''E-commerce is more than the dot.com of the week to our customers,'' said John Montague, PowerCerv's senior vice president of marketing. ''It is the ability to have solutions that add value to business processes. The ability to connect directly with carriers now allows PowerCerv customers to automate the logistics of package processing, including label printing, electronic billing and online tracking for ground, air express and less than truck load (LTL) carriers.''

The addition of the Clippership 32 module allows PowerCerv customers to quickly and easily shop for the best shipping rates and routes - at any time, from their own workstations. By allowing customers to transmit package information to carriers and access carrier databases, Clippership 32 software can automatically analyze freight rates for a selected carrier or comparison shop between carriers.

When a carrier's remote server is required for the shipping process, Clippership 32 provides an automatic connection. Remote server access can be provided for UPS, FedEx, RPS, Airborne Express, BAX Global, DHL and the U.S. Postal Service.

Melinda Powers, marketing manager with Kewill, said: ''Today, shipping has as much to do with management information as it does with getting the package out the door. Shipping is the last chance for suppliers to capture and manage information related to outbound goods. Clippership's integration of the various aspects of shipping allows users to turn raw shipping data into useful management information, such as shipping analysis reports.''

The agreement also gives PowerCerv access to Kewill's TracerX® software, which allows PowerCerv to integrate shipping and tracking information with order processing systems - offering its customers a seamlessly integrated distribution system.

Montague said: ''This agreement means much more than just shipping automation - it creates a level of functionality within ERP Plus that tremendously improves customer contact and customer communications. It's adding a level of customer relationship management to a traditionally back-office operation, and that gives PowerCerv customers a strong competitive edge.''
