Peter J Strifas ------------- Dear MyRealBox User: Recently, we have noticed an increase in spam attempts involving MyRealBox. In most cases we were successful in preventing spam from reaching your mailbox. We are also very successful in preventing spammers from sending spam from MRB via an MRB account. What we cannot always prevent is spam that does not originate from MRB nor is intended for MRB users, yet gets bounced back to MRB because the spammer forged a header containing an MRB account as the sender and used an open relay host to send the spam. Other mail services block spam as well and when spammers send messages which are rejected by the receiving host, MyRealBox is forced to process tens of thousands of bounced messages. As you can imagine, this can impact server performance. We have now taken steps to reject bounced messages that exihibit a spam pattern so our system resources our used to process your legitimate e-mail activity. We very agressively pursue any and all spam attempts which use MRB accounts in any way. We have identified the source of several attempts, have contacted the dial-up services and relay hosts these users used and have succeeded in obtaining action against the spammers. We will not tolerate any spam attempts that implicate MyRealBox in any way, shape or form. We have already disabled several accounts that have abused MyRealBox in the manner described and have referred these matters to the appropriate legal authorities. Regards, The MyRealBox Team
