I have the same problem with my 401K which is run by
one of the most reputed firms. I have invested all
my money in a fund that had invested heavily in oil
inspite of oil stocks falling cause I was convinced
that it would turn. The fund was almost 75% invested
in oil. Then in the beginning of 1999 the funds new
fund manager decided to sell all the oil stocks at
the bottom. The fact that the fund was selling pushed
these stocks even lower. Just 2 weeks later there was
a rally in oil and the stocks that this firm sold went
up more than six fold. To add to my woes, this fund next
invested in technology stocks and their largest holding
in which they had more than 10% promptly fell more
than 50% on bad results in just a further 2 weeks.
