The National Post reports in its Friday, Dec. 10, edition that Hummingbird Communications jumped $4 to $42 yesterday on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The National Post's Market Action column reports that Hummingbird's shares have surged 13.1 per cent in the past two days, hitting a 52-week intraday high of $42.50 yesterday, as positive analyst comments about the company's long-awaited launch of its enterprise information portal software accelerated the stock's rally. Scotia Capital Markets analyst Ralph Garcea says Hummingbird is showing that it could bring together an impressive set of technologies from its connectivity, knowledge management, and business intelligence product lines. Mr. Garcea notes that the demonstration was done within Microsoft Internet Explorer, and that co-marketing deal with Microsoft could definitely move the stock in the near term. Mr. Garcea expects revenue of $300-million (U.S.) for the company's fiscal 2001, and has rated the stock a "buy" with a 12-month target of $45 a share and a 24-month target of $60.
