John - Re: "Samsung doesn't feel too pessimistic about RMBS:"

Samsung sees an opportunity to provide Rambus DRAMS without all the competitive pressure from the myriad of standard SDRAM producers. Intel has demonstrated that Coppermine CPUs and RAMBUS/Camino chip sets are extremely powerful and competitive with anything AMD has.

Further, the new ALPHA designs are dependent upon RAMBUS memory - and Samsung is THE PLAYER in the new ALPHA, Inc. company. I'm sure they see the need to support this business segment.

Finally, Sony will be using RAMBUS in their new Playstation II - due out next year.

So, Samsung has a golden opportunity to generate some much needed profits as being the TOP DOG RAMBUS producer.
