Hi Jeff..
you are right that there is too much BS on this thread but I do believe that it is understandible under the circumstances! Some people have been burned pretty badly by this whole mess.
I have mentioned some of these points before but there are so many posts and people looking for info I will reiterate. Sorry if the repetition offends some....

There is no definitive answer to your question.

Frankly those who "Know" dont know which is why after 3 weeks there is no clear answer as to what happened. Because of the conundrum of two very implausable events it would seem that both couldn't have happened but one did.
Is it Bre-X the scam or Freeport the error? We dont know for sure. Both scenarios are hard to believe....so you have all these so called experts postulating theories... the most unbelievable was the Financial Post (a "respected"? National Canadian financial daily with the mysterious "raisin bran" scoop theory.... what they wont do to sell papers

Any and all of the salting theories are a far stretch.... none are impossible but all truly require a very vivid imagination.... did they happen.... well certainly the "demise" of DeGuzman adds fuel to the fire... is the incident related or not? common sense says yes... the timing was too appropriate... but stranger things have happened...
that is why people are trying to prove up the bre-X scam theory. I also think it is because they are jealous. The previously broke Walsh is a valid Horatio Alger story. Since it didn't happen to them then Walsh must have cheated... this is human nature.
The big headlines of the sales of shares by Bre-X managment conveniently did not portray the fact that these sales were less than 5% of their holdings.... if you were broke 3 years ago and finally had a chance to hit it big.... what is worng with starting to enjoy some of the winnings. If they were the scammers that they are portrayed to be.... wouldn't they have sold more???

you could go on and on but what is curious to me is that all the focus is on the means ands methods of how Bre-X had "invalid samples" yet I have seen NO scrutiny of Freeports procedures..... mistakes can be made...remember that Freeport has ONLY one mine and it is a COPPER mine... the gold that they get from this mine is fine particle and nothing like Busang.... could they have made a mistake..... I dont know for sure but it does seem more likely to me and I truly wonder why the hungry media has not focused on this issue.... could it be FCX'x CIA connections??

I know that I did not give you the answer that you want but I am trying to post a view that I think is a reasonable interpretation of the facts to date

we will know soon!!
