I don't use AOL much, but my wife uses it occasionally. I'm on the $3.50 a month plan with them. Mainly I use Netcom/Mindspring, and I agree about the net congestion. It isn't terrible most of the time, but one week I was only getting about 300 baud of actual throughput. You think 50kb looks like 300 baud when compared to cable net service, you should see what 300 baud service really looks like. Think in terms of minutes to load pages, with SI pages around 2 minutes, and some with complex graphics at upwards of 10 minutes. Now that REALLY sucked.

I admit that I was hoping to see some improvement when I moved to a 56k modem, but the difference between 26k and 31k isn't enough to notice.
