Dear rudedog, My husband had a lot of fun with his Star LINUX. He worried about security so he installed Solaris 7 since Sun gives it away. He is very happy with it as far as I know. He believes that many programmers will write applications for Solaris now that Sun gives it away ~ just like they do for LINUX. I was curious if you knew anything about the new LINUX PC. I was amazed at the share price. Anyway, have you or anyone else read either A Deepness in the Sky or A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge who teaches computer science at San Diego State. Did anyone out there like either book? You can PM me. I wondered if one of the books would make a good Christmas gift. I received the January issue of Wired Magazine today. I tore out the advertisements until I could find the table of contents. Then, I found the article that Vinge wrote about embedded networks that may track physical objects in the future. WOW!!!! Can anyone recommend his book or books? Cheers, Mephisto
