Smart editing David, or anyone on this thread, Have you seen or heard of any work by AVID or others in the digital video editing sector who are researching or offering products that get into smart editing, i.e. semantics- and structure-based tools for assisting the human editor in assembling small video/audio units into larger, composed pieces? It seems like ENG is a likely arena to see this emerge, as news video represents a relatively constrained style. Do the AVID newscutter and related tools address this in any way, or offer help in tagging content, which could serve as a basis for such developments? It seems like these areas would be worth watching, and possibly investing as they become technically and commercially viable. David Schoenbach
