Hi Ike,

companies need to transform from one age to another age as the technology moves forward. Real question is whether Kodak whose main business is imaging products (capturing, storing and managing image) can transform itself to the new medium. As long as Kodak understands it and transforms itself it should be a viable business. Fundamental need to capture, store and manage images will not go away anytime soon. IMHO they have missed most of the new imaging products area. Is it too late for the party ? I don't think so .... since everything is in early stages and Kodak brand still carries a lot of respect all over the world.

Honda and Sony have accomplished those kind of successful transformations in their fundamental business. I don't know if EK has ever transformed itself before.

>I would argue that new technology can only survive if old technology
> remains vibrant

... not really. Just look at the recent deal between SUNW, INKT and ISLD. SUNW and INKT converted their cash to revenue + asset in a single deal. As long as the barter system is well and alive we will see a continued growth in revenue and assets --- vibrant economy.... (just kidding)

Now on a different topic,

This market is becoming brutal for fundamental shorts on nifty internet/linux/fad stocks. I rarely see an analyst upgrade or price target increase accompanied by increased expectation of revenue or earnings. This is the season (market) to be jolly and silly. LNUX and the greed of new company founders coming public (based on outstanding shares) blows my mind away.

Regards,

Suresh
