Is WIND addressing the real time Linux market?

Voop,

No, WRS is not addressing this market, if you can call this a market. But Fidler said that WRS was paying attention to Leneo and Monte Vista. (Sorry, my spelling for them are probably wrong.) Fidler hasn't seen anything substantial to warrant any action.

In fact, Prognosticator has been raising this issue for a while. He thinks VxWorks should add Linux support. Linux definitely has an advantage. It has many free and ready applications.

My personal take: Adding Linux will make Linux the interface for applications. If VxWorks can do it, so can every other OS. And this will makes it very hard for us to differentiate our product. As long as we can get application support, in our case, browser and plug-in support, we shouldn't try to make our product any less valuable. Remember that we talked about how porting Palm OS to EPOC was bad for Psion. The same thing applies here. Linux is interesting. Let's see where it will end up.
