I never recommend shorting a stock.
It effectively hands your financial decisions to the investment bank you are borrowing the shares from. They can call in the short at any time, usually when it is to their advantage and not the borrowers. Admittedly, it rarely happens; but the frequency with which it does has started to increase in the last three years. (I read this recently in an online article. Can't remember its URL but I think it was a Fortune Magazine article.) You will also find that the majority of investors shy away from shorting stocks; some consider it un-American.
