Greg, "They are going to wait till the after the meeting to get more bang for the buck, to announce the handset sale." Actually, if I had to venture a guess, I'd say that they (QCOM management) are much more concerned with getting the best deal in place than the timing of before/after the split and it's resultant effect on the stock. What leads me to this belief is their actions a few months back when the Q was being added to the S&P 500, and everyone was ecstatic about the impending run-up. Then they sold shares to supply the Fund Managers demand and muted the response (See Yahoo for the typical recent response). The end effect was to put $1 billion plus in capital in the company's coffers, and to reduce the froth in the stock price, probably knowing that in a short time it would rise of it's own accord. There were quite a few people on this thread who gnashed their teeth about the "missed" runup during that period, but in retrospect, it probably didn't matter to anyone other than short term option holders. So if they have to wait until January to get the right deal, I'm not going to mind. I'd much rather have Irwin and company looking out for the long term growth of the company, than trying to maximize the current short term runup in the stock. DWB Q10K/Y2K+5
