PERL'S NEW TECHNOLOGY by: go_perl (39/M/Atherton, CA) 12/10/99 6:30 pm Msg: 3198 of 3341
Dear fellow PERL longs-do not let the shorts scare you. They obviously do not know anything about PERL, Linux or computer technology for that matter. I have been using and programming computers since the early seventies.
I just got this rumor from a friend working in PERL's R&D department. PERL is supposedly working on a new, novel type of wireless connectivity technology working with Linux as the OS. My friend told me that he thinks PERL may have signed a deal with IBM, which is planning to enter the Palm form factor computing market with a new Palm PC based on their proven IBM S/390 CMOS and AS/400 technology, running Linux.
My friend told me that PERL will possibly be developing the wireless, 622Mb/s ATM link for this new IBM Palm PDA system. Do you know what this means, you clueless shorts wakeup2000i" and "nordique5"?
This wireless ATM link by PERL will be the world's first and finest, and takes advantage of quantum-mechanical phenomena, anti-matter technology and new silicon-on-insulator (SOI) chip technologies.
When IBM is out with its new IBM S/390 and IBM AS/400 compatible Palm PCs, everybody will be wanting one, and PERL will be the only supplier of remote wireless connectivity for these devices running Linux.
