eBay Gets Tear Gassed

Someone said "we live in interesting times. " For the Masher, interesting should be changed to bizarre. Yahoo, a company most of us had never heard of until a year or two ago, grew $30 billion in value in three days. Simultaneously, people started auctioning souvenirs from the wild and woolly protests of the WTO meeting in Seattle on eBay. Is this schizoid or what? What will you give me for a spent tear gas canister? Wired News reported on December 8 that no fewer than 23 separate offerings of riot memorabilia were in full swing at the online auction site. At least four people had bid $75 for the "tear gas fun pack," which includes a spent CS gas canister, two tear gas shells, some exploded concussion grenades, a handful of rubber bullets, and a broken billy club that the seller says "probably broke over some poor protester's head." There are still three days left to get your bid in.
