Jeff,

Everything you just said still leads to the "too pat" theory I have here. Way too easy for all to assume the viewpoint you just gave and for all of the reasons you just gave.

Also I would think that Yale's reputation stood to be tarnished far more by having it known that a prof is arrested for child pronography which is now closely followed by a Prof now under a cloud of murder. It would make more sense for Yale to have it be a local townie druggie, if it was their reputation they were concerned about. Additionally it would seem to me that this would be an excellent excuse, reason, for the powers that be at Yale to really put tons of pressure on local law enforcement to really clean up their act and insist that they be far more productive and effective at their jobs.

Again, if Yale was really concerned about Yale's reputation, it simply makes more sense for Yale to be outraged, to protect their own, and to put major pressure on local law enforcement.
