Oh, yeah, "inclement weather." I forgot, that's another reason I got the SUV, all-wheel-drive. People in San Francisco have no idea what it's like to drive in an ice storm. That's why I didn't want a mini-van. We haven't had snow yet, it's La Nina, so it's warm.
Last Christmas eve my mother was in a wreck (Buick, rear-wheel-drive), and hit her head, and was off her rocker, and I thought she might have brain trauma. So I drove her on 15 miles of three-inch-thick ice-covered Interstate to Fairfax Hospital, there were almost NO cars on the road, just trucks, SUVs, and a few sports cars with front-wheel drive. No minivans, no sedans. The roads were treacherous, lots of cars spun out on the side of the road and abandoned. I was pretty nervous, but put the transmission into Diff. Lock, and it did OK. Mom's CAT scan was negative, thank goodness. |
