Here's an opinion. It's time for SGI to do something. I state on this board a few months ago that the first thing which must go is MTI. SGI should get out of the processor business.

That would probably be a mistake. MIPS chips are the largest selling family of chips in the world. Most of the volume is in the low-end, in the embedded processor market and things like the Sony Playstation and the Nintendo64. I don't know how much profit SGI brings in on the licenses for the MIPS chips, but given that once the chip design is paid for, everything else is profit, they must be bringing a decent amount.
