My main discount broker is TD waterhouse. They are the best staffed in terms of manpower so when I have a problem with the webbroker, I call them and usually get through and still get web commission.. Have thought of trying out etrade or schwab canada (schwab has a good reputation in terms of service, although their fees and minimum balance req. are higher).. One of the problem in Canada is the rule that every trade has to be reviewed by a Rep. even if you submit your order through the discount broker. DUMB.. At this point, discount brokers are trying to get this changed but who knows when it will happen..

The other choice for trading US stocks will be to open an account with american discount brokers.. Some take canadian customers. Check this link out for some info on discount brokers and other stuff... ndir.com
