I put something over on Yahoo... Because of the dual room set up I had to keep moving, but of the presentations I did see, TGEN's was only surpassed by Gizzmo and Corixa--Parker was a bit hurried but still a very nice talk. A few of the slides flew by a bit too fast, and I was not one of the six or seven folks who crowded around after her talk, but maybe I'll have my wife ask her something at the annual meeting, whenever that is next year. If a person is looking for hints, I don't think the II forum is the place, but a great way to become more familiar with companies you don't follow.
If there was one thing that Parker seemed she most wanted to get across, it was that AAV is not Ad (!) and that they feel they have the means to be the leader for production of this vector.
Actually, Lee Hartwell of the Hutch was the best speaker since he was not selling anything-- he mentioned a local company, Rosetta Inpharmatics I think it is--when I was googling around on Cadus I came across that one, private I think. If you only replay one thing, listen to Hartwell's speech. He made a suggestion for how the internet might be used to share information about individual's self-experiments. That idea was not lost on me... for example, I am sure that sugar plays a part in my asthma, I always seem to wheeze a bit after treats. Maybe I should find a hundred asthmatics and do my own study!. A really nice talk.
I'd suggest folks do attend these things when they can--it's also a lot of fun to talk to other investors over the lunch they provide (which comes with a view at the Seattle Hilton). Quite a wide range of investors, although mainly men in the audience, there was a good range of ages, and certainly a large range of scientific understanding. The very last presentation made me rather uncomfortable, I left in the middle of that...that speaker clearly had too much coffee today, yikes.
