ARCHIVES: Market closed!! Thread not to busy so I went over and read last year's post....Thought some of you might like to read a few of the post....You would think they were posted today. Looks like nothing has changed....Maybe we will have another year the same as last!!!!!!Wouldn't that be nice?
THESE POST ARE FROM DEC. 8th and DEC. 11, 1998 DEC. 8, 1998 If I understand you and Greg correctly any negative impact this all has on QCOM's stock is a very good buying opportunity with an almost 100% chance of it bouncing back, correct?
DEC 8, 1998 *At the risk of sounding like an (I.Q.- impaired) real estate agent (i.e. -- it's "always a great time to buy"), my own assessment of the move (since yesterday morning) from 56ish to 50ish is "a whole move based on nothing."
DEC. 8, 1998: (Marginmike): It's never nothing. There is a downgrade or something happening in are near future. I got some more at 50 1/2 and will buy a boatload of options if it see's 47 again Jason - if you followed commodities as closely as I do, you would understand my willingness to use the expression "a whole move based on nothing." An example - silver going to about $7.00 on news that "the great" Warren Buffett had removed 1/5 of this year's production from the market.
DEC. 8, 1998 Sag: As Stock Technicians (what a joke) are selling because QCOM broke both it's 200 and 50 day moving averages. This is the same mentality that sells INTC at 70 and buys it at 124 because "it's acting good".
DEC. 8, 1998: I still think we'll see an announcement.............And Q! will be $80 by 31 December.
DEC. 8, 1998: Seems that no matter what happens to the stock price we always manage to convince ourselves of our righteousness. Now if this were an ordinary human situation, 10 people sitting around a room, one always seeing things differently from everyone else, the group would label that person crazy, deluded, psycopathic. Of course this is different. We really are THE ONLY ONES who know what's going on because in fact we all are smarter than everyone else:-) ...........Dave
DEC. 8, 1998 It makes space mountain look like a duck pond boat ride!
DEC. 11, 1998 re: mmeggs:" Hey, I understand completely. I've got my own firm cautioning me, in a condescending tone, that "you know, the analyst is pretty down on Qualcomm." Anybody know an annuity with Qualcomm in it? (Joke.)
DEC. 11, 1998 In re: mmeggs:"< I've got my own firm cautioning me, in a condescending tone, that "you know, the analyst is pretty down on Qualcomm." (Meaning Cabi)"> These monkeys will turn on a dime without a further thought and race to acquire Q! just as quickly as they've been running away from it. Monkey see monkey do.
DEC. 11, 1998 marginmike: I got on this thread in October and boldly stated that the world wasn't as bad as everyone was preaching. I put my money where my mouth is and bought stocks almost at the bottom. I missed Oct 8th by a day! I tell You now like I told you then this overwhelming negative sentiment towards Q is really bullish! I believe that we are about to turn a Major corner. Assuming the overall market can tread water we will Finally get a nice updraft this quarter. I think the Erickson blow is another mark against their credibility, and 3G is coming soon. There is nobody I know (professionally) who believes Qcom's IPR position. Nobody seems to see the CDMA revolution growing as fast as it is. I say this is all bullish, and I hope anyone else who doesn't have conviction to SELL now. We are at a watershed mark for this company and if we can get through the next 6 months we are ready for lift off. Qcom 80 in 2000(4 split adjustments)
Dec. 11, 1998 Sawtooth: <<Six months ago the Q would have been down 6$ on yesterdays news. (8$)?>> I'll second that, Thomas. I've also been noting that the Q has become significantly more resistant to events or news that previously would have pulled the rug out from under the price. I'll take it as a good sign. |
