Why should Goldman respond at all? Butler uses the old journalistic trick - he posts an article and says that he invited so and so to respond but 'they declined' You are taking his word for it of course - but I doubt you know anything about his credentials? Barrick too must have had a good look at his allegations of fraud and seems to have decided not to respond. At least not so far as I know. By your sort of reasoning if a person decides not to respond you would hold them to be guilty of something? It's a cheap ploy. It's hard to sue for libel successfully in the US - even if the plaintiff has truth on his side. The tabloid headlines are proof of this.
