I'd rather own CSCO than LU. In fact, I do. They compete in some areas (though not all). Cisco is a far more dynamic "West Coast" kind of firm. Lucent is a more stodgy "East Coast" firm. I'd bet on Cisco.

BTW, my brother-in-law works for Cisco, and he says the place is hoppin'. Hiring as fast as they can. High company moral. He gets stock options, and he's still buying more in his personal account.
