Christine I wanted to ask you something... do you know where "Sunnyside" is in SF? I just like the name Sunnyside, sounds like the weather is good. I don't know the area... could be spotty... and there is a street there called "Hearst" (wouldn't you just love to live on Hearst st, I would).

But on this issue of motherhood, you are correct about me... even I believe I am likely to change my mind about a great many things, this being one... or I may have no children.

But anyway, I've seen these attitudes go full circle now with regards to motherhood... first my mother had to endure an attitude similar to today in her time... and I remember it quite vividly - for example I was a girl scout and all the mom's had to take time and sell cookies at the grocery store... my mother had no time for this, and the Girl Scout troop leaders laid a guilt trip on ME about it. Little things like that happened to a kid with a working mom in the early 70s.

I'm not proposing that we go back to that (imo wierd) time period that you mention where motherhood and children were almost shunned. But everyone should be able to make their own choices regarding these issues and all I see are a bunch of politicians grasping onto this as a convenient scapegoat for all of society's ills. BTW I don't think theres anything wrong with Murphy Brown either.
