Are there barriers to entry in the to providing these Web Site services?

By definition, a king/godzilla does not have proprietary control of the service, or enabling software or hardware.

At first glance, the barriers to entry to build a brick & mortar Internet Data Center with a lot of servers and storage equipment would not seem to be great. However, each of these facilities cost ~ $40 million to construct, and EXDS has 3-4X as many as the next closest competitor at this time. They may be harder to erect and make work than we appreciate. I like Bruce Brown's analogy with Intel Fabs, ie, they they are costly and it takes great skill to make them efficient and maximize productivity; hence, Intel's dominance in the microprocessor world. Don't know how accurate this analogy is, but I like it anyway.<g>
