Hi, Lizzie! Good God, do I ever know what you mean; we found much the same thing. This woman would apparently forget that she already had something in the house and would buy it again. And again. And again. My friend had tried to keep an eye on her, but there are limits to how much barging around in someone's own home that a person can do without giving grievous offense. Besides which, he too lived at a distance. Imagine cleaning supplies to last a life time, canned goods that were an invitation to botulism, plastic bags and all manner of "saved" items. We could barely navigate our way around the house. Clothing that had belonged to people who had been dead for 20 years filled the closets and showed up in piles under the beds. It took us months of working on weekends to clear it out. We also found photos that my friend never even knew existed of his family. In some cases he can only guess at the identities of the people. It can be so sad.
