Society needs to continue itself- if it wants to do that it had better encourage intelligent people to breed. Society doesn't HAVE to make that decision- but if it wants to be a healthy society it probably should. So I think benefits to people having children makes sense.

I don't see a constant drumbeat for one type of opinion. I see a lot of people justifying the healthy state of our society with women working and lots of talk about how wonderful it is that so many women work- I do not think it is wonderful that women work and I do not think it makes society healthy. Children (imo) need their mothers. Fathers can do the job too- but mothers are adapted for it. I think on demand breast feeding is best and that it is best coming from the breast. All that skin to skin contact between mom and baby is wonderful.

Mothers at home are a powerful force. I think energy put into society is better than energy put into business- because imo making money is secondary to the strength of society and family and community- and if no one has time to run the institutions of society (the kids clubs, the kids sports, the charitable groups, the social groups) then society will fall apart- which is (imo) what is happening. Kids can't get into trouble when they are REALLY well supervised- that is a lesson we can learn from the Mormons. With all the parents at work, assuming that teenagers can raise themselves after school, all sorts of mayhem occurs.
