Perceval,

How does Gemstar fit in with this or do they?

The second largest holder of Liberate (formerly NCI) is AOL via the Netscape acquisition. You will note that the two largest US contracts for Liberate are that of AOL TV and US West. Although the website description of the Navigator is somewhat misleading/vague as both AOL and US West licensed Gemstar exclusively (subsequent to the Liberate licensing) for the IPG technology.

Sometimes, being tech challenged as myself, it is easier to simply follow the money. Gemstar demands high stakes for its technology and witnessing the AOL and MS submission gives me confidence going forward as I suspect both to have a competent engineering and patent attorney staff.

Regards
Stew
