Gee, Ish, San Francisco is not like most of the rest of the country. Two thirds of the people here are renters; you need immaculate credit and an income of at least $80,000 a year to buy the smallest tackiest dump of a house you could imagine. In our Mission district, so many yuppies have moved in that there are urban terrorists who resent the gentrification and have an organized movement to scratch up SUVs, drive sushi places out of business, etc. It is a little wild here, to say the least! So drive by shootings in the neighborhood are not an absolute disincentive to purchasing property, if you are somewhat out of harm's way.
