rudedog: I think the comment was made in the CC but I can't remember exactly.

This may be an occasion when the collective memory of the thread is better than a single memory. Cranking up my own, I believe the "15% of commercial PC's" remark was made by Capellas during his New York onstage presentation of iPAQ.

I think Salah was correct when he said Capellas.....said the iPaq revenues will be 10%-15% of CPQ commercial PC revenues in the first year rising to 40%-60% over the the next 2-3 years.

This prediction could still be consistent with your memory that at some other time, possibly during the CC, Capellas indicated that revenues from commercial PC's would fall to 15% of total. I have never heard or read those kind of percentages before, but, as I said, I was unable to access the CC or any of the recordings of it.

In that context, in three years what percentage of total revenues would be derived from consumer PC's?

I suppose we will also have to start taking seriously percentages of revenues from other appliances which are "less than PC's".

Given the current loss-making status of commercial PC's (hopefully to be turned break-even or profitable by iPaq next year) the 4% or 5% profitability of consumer PC's (although on huge volume), and the probable low profitability of the new appliances (although on large volume) - the balance between revenues from PCs and appliances on the rest is critical. Those revenues are in the region of 45% -50% now (depending on what is included).

The importance of cost-savings and efficiency to improve margins should remain a top priority at least until those revenues can be reduced as a percentage of the whole.
