Mohammed Ali appeared in Britain yesterday evening on a live nation-wide BBC TV show attended by all the leading athletes from every sport. The show was to present the prize for Athlete of the Year and Athlete of the Millenium chosen by the British public.

Lennox Lewis won the Athlete of the Year and in his speech said it took him ten years and even then the Americans made him fight 24 rounds to win it.

Mohammed Ali was shaking very badly and he was introduced to Lennox and Holyfield and all the top British boxers past and present. They all made speeches to him but he could not answer.

Then he was presented with Athlete of the Millenium. He stood up, accepted it and said "I have really enjoyed boxing - and might come back!". It was good to see him and even though he looked so sick he still had a twinkle in his eye.
