Sarkie, This bear is three years old so she may have cubs in January. That would be something for kids to see as cubs are born during Mom's hibernation. They nurse while Mom hibernates and grow like little weeds. When she bears wake up, it is often with a family of one to three cubs. What a shock, they go to sleep alone and wake up with a family.
Part of the reason hibernating bears are being studied is to see if we can learn their secret and use it in space travel. A sow bear about twice the age and size of this one is having a similar study done on her here in Colorado. She lives on a ranch that is not too far from my high country land.
Glad you enjoyed the link, I've been watching her move around, very cool.
