I agree with pretty much everything you say in this post. SUNW has done a great job of "we put the dot in .com" with little substance, and IBM has grabbed huge mindshare as the e-commerce king when most of their service organization is servicing mainframe accounts.

That's kind of what I have been saying - DELL is not going to get momentum by pointing to low inventory costs, ROIC, or even PC market share gains in the face of that mania.

I also agree with your view on IBM - a dangerous partner who must be handled with great care. DELL needs the service component for their enterprise business but a "toe in the water" is about as far as I would like to see them go.
