jim....re: "big lie"

not necessarily true, that all pr or spin equates to a "lie". in life as in business, the only thing that must be ascertained in interacting with another person or entity, is that the other is satisfied with your action or product. most times the consumer, be they retail or business, need a bit of convincing of why one product is better then another. commercial decisions are not based purely on "business models", "underlying metrics" or "value". when a company as dell becomes specified within an organization, it becomes difficult to dethrone them, as they become the norm. and once accepted as the norm, latitude is given and margin of error is allowed. sometimes familiarity breeds contempt.

it's basic, but most can't grasp the concept that "best" doesn't always prevail...."franchise brand" does....regardless of how and by what means the brand was established....

a business must exist in the real world, and adjust to the means that their peers use to take business from them....better "perception" and "brand recognition" always equates to higher product sales.
