My point exactly. Merced can be a commerical success for Intel but may never get the volume necessary to become mainstream and most likely will go the way of Sparc, Mips, Alpha and all those super-duper CPUs - this kind of stuff ends up being a niche market or faces extinction as x86 derivatives makeup for the architectural weaknesses with leverage resulting from sheer volume and market muscle.
