NEWS RELEASE
PELICAN MOUNTAINS - DRILLING COMMENCES VSE SYMBOL: NBL DECEMBER 13, 1999
The company is pleased to announce that a diamond drill program has commenced at the companies Pelican Mountains Heavy Mineral occurrence. The program will consist of two parts: a two hole program prior to Christmas and an expanded program of delineation drilling scheduled for January, 2000. The initial program is intended to test the full stratigraphic section, which encompasses the heavy mineral sands, via a single deep drill hole, and to test those portions of the occurrence which display weaker magnetic responses. This will allow the company to predict continuity of the occurrence along strike and at depth; as well as, to determine heavy mineral concentrations within the less magnetic portions of the occurrence.
The company is also pleased to report on the following preliminary kimberlite exploration results from the Pelican Mountains property. Immediately southwest of Rock Island Lake, near the head of Calling River drainage, the company completed a ground magnetic survey over a cluster of four aeromagnetic anomalies. The survey revealed a single, 125 - 150 m circular anomaly with a magnetic intensity of up to 90 nT. Within the gridded area, a second sub-circular anomaly, which is up to 175 m in diameter, displays a magnetic intensity of about 30 nT. A third linear anomaly, up to 600 m in length, flanks the aforementioned kimberlitic exploration targets. Diamond indicator samples were collected from a short distance down ice of the targets.
Approximately 30 diamond indicator samples from the property have been submitted to the Saskatchewan Research Council for analysis. Preliminary results are expected in early January 2000. Based upon those results, a program of ground geophysics and diamond drilling will be designed and implemented.
