From Raging Bull: You can download the ABC Nightline - Collaborative Filtering Show in three segments from abcnews.virage.com You can also download a transcipt. I just saw it for the first time. Opinion? A soft magazine piece. In simplistic languuage it tried to dramatize the concept that a computer may know your needs or preferences better than you do. In my opinion it did not add enough additional information to startle anybody into thinking something radically new was involved. The guys from NETP came across as college-teacher types - gentle and pleasant but hardly dynamic executives. There was nothing in it to focus on the company, NETP, and nothing to suggest that it offered an investment opportunity. I think very few who watched it would think "I wonder how I can invest in that?". It is nice background stuff to have, a good clip for salesmen to hand out, and it is quite possible that it stimulated a lot of small and medium businesses to make some enquiries this morning about whether it can increase their sales. To affect the share price, the news will have to be "hard" - about profit potential or takeover prospects - and it will have to be on the wires.
