Yes CJ on all you said and

<<What led me to consider the theory that the murderer may be someone who had it "in" for Jim, and/or had something to gain by tarnishing his reputation, is the location of the wounds [back vs. front]; the possibility/likelihood that the murderer was not completely random; yet, not someone real close to Suzanne; the overwhelming opinion that she would not have voluntarily entered the vehicle of someone she didn't know at all; thusfar, no apparent motive directed toward Suzanne for wanting Suzanne murdered, and the like.>>

This also. No motive ever found here. Agree she knew whoever she got in the car with. (Jeff you have convinced me due to time and distance that a car was part of this) Don't feel it was random at all.

Now one step further here. Target here was actually Jim and Suzanne was conveniently used. The murder being necessary in order to discredit Jim.

Can I prove any of this? No, can't even come close to proving it. Pure conjecture on my part and don't have enough data on Jim's actual backround to even know where to start.

Theory #2. It has to do with the paper. Suzanne knew too much and had to be done away with and Jim, as the prof and probably only other person who really read it closely, now knows too much and has to be discredited.

There you have it guys. Again can't prove a thing but both scenarios make for great movie or book plots <g>
