IF MM's are trouble, Why would firms list on NASDAQ

I can't figure why firms continue to list on exchanges
such as NASDAQ if all the MM manipulation is true. The
manipulation does not seem to be beneficial to the
listed firm.

I would like to hear people's experience with respect to
the size of the spread. Does a large spread hint that
the stock is going to go up? Are the market maker
just trying to steal our money with the big spreads?
Are they trying to lower the trading volumes and if
so why? Wouldn't this annoy the company? A great
example of this is HUMCF. Big earnings, great earnings
growth, shorted big time on NASDAQ and regularly has big
spreads. Are they manipulating this stock and if so why.
