I'd expect to see more news like this over the next couple months:

LINUX Version of WebCatalog From Smith Micro Tapped to Bolster Online Shopping Experience At Sportswear-Maker Xterragear.Com
ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- XTERRAgear.com, a well-known online sportswear retailer, has chosen the newly released LINUX version of WebCatalog from Smith Micro Software, Inc.'s (Nasdaq: SMSI), Internet Solutions Division to create an online catalog of athletic sportswear. XTERRAgear ( catalog.xterragear.com ) is the on line catalog of the nationally televised XTERRA Off Road Multisport series produced by Team Unlimited of Hawaii.

WebCatalog allowed the site developers, CyberLive, to focus on the "interactiveness" of the site rather than the engineering. This was CyberLive, Inc.'s first use of WebCatalog and the WebDNA language. "WebCatalog and WebDNA integrated flawlessly with our graphic interface ideas. WebDNA is the easiest language we have encountered to produce dynamic content sites," said web site developer Jym Duane, president of CyberLive. "We find we can easily customize the output of the included Store Builder templates into the desired results," continued Duane.

The XTERRAgear site uses graphics to enhance and improve the interactive shopping experience for the visitor, and to make purchase decisions simple. All of the products are displayed in a magazine style burst layout for easy reference so that the users are plunged into the products. Clicking on the product photograph allows the visitor to get details on their selection and continue with their purchase.

The adaptable nature of the WebCatalog means that each customer can use the software for various applications on its site, although the most typical applications are aimed at increasing storefront functionality and usability. Users have, for example, used the software for everything from shipment tracking to creating and adding games aimed at increasing user re-visit rates.

WebCatalog is used by many popular eCommerce and interactive sites, including AnythingPC.com ( www.anythingPC.com ), Pillsbury Dough Shop ( www.doughboyshop.com ), Stanford Gear ( www.stanfordgear.com ), Zamboni ( www.zamboni.com ) and others. Chris Lippincott, General Manager of the Internet Solutions Division of Smith Micro Software said, "We believe that the underlying technology behind our WebCatalog product will enable us to capitalize on a number of new and exciting opportunities in the eCommerce marketplace. Our recent UNIX release of WebCatalog has enabled us to penetrate new markets."
