First, you seem to be a great dad!

Now, 7th grade seems to be a tad early to be concerned about college. I really can't remember when I became concerned about college (either going or which one..). My parents did not go to college and were in the restaurant business. So there were no pressure there. I was also an only child, so I was pretty spoiled and carefree. But I was very curious about the lives of very rich and powerful men, like JP Morgan, JFK, and the Duponts. I read and research about them throughout my teenage period. I started a school investment club and actually got contributions from faculty members to form a small trust. We had a 60% return in the first year (I thought money grew from trees...), then lost 20% the next year. By my junior year, my grades were mostly A's and B's, think I had a 3.5 or so avg. But when I got a 230 out of 240 on my PSAT, some local schools like Cal-Berkeley and Stanford offered me scholarships to study there. I had dreamed about moving east to study at maybe Princeton or Columbia, to be close to the financial centers, but my parents were against that idea. So I went to Stanford and did a BS in economics/computer engineering.

Maybe junior can start writing on this forum directly, feel the pulse here, etc...

As for SPLS, got out near 24-25. Most of my money is in cash and 5-year Treasurys. MO and MCD are my favorite plays at the moment...
