Hi Hal, more pictures for thoughts. If your Laptop is late design and
has CardBus, CreditCard Thin, it must be 32bit. By all means try & stay with 10/100,(auto sensing) or 100MBps cards for faster transfer between Laptop & PC. Seems the PCMCIA cards use a Dongle, ( Looks to be about 15" cable) w/15 pin adapter to connect to PCMCIA & RJ45 on other end for cable to PC. Newer cards have done away with Dongle and are called Xjacks. Meaning the RJ45 socket is on the card, doing away with Dongle.(good). See first URL below.

Probably set up the PC as Server, Laptop as Client. Name the rigs, any name OK. If you have two slots for cards on LapTop then I would think to keep both in. However don't think you would use both at same time, C/Modem & NIC). Aren't they HotSwap?. We use RJ45 Crossover cable connecting 2 PC's, suppose you would do same. HUB not needed for two PC's, Would be needed if connecting three or more.

With win95 on PC & win98 on Laptop not sure about MS Wizard connecting. I use Sygate, others are available. This only has to do with networking computers together. Not Internet. You would connect to Internet tho' from LapTop thru' PC (going thru Crossover). Both connected same time to different WEB pages. Same ISP.
