Brian,

Thanks for sharing your church background. It appears that as you have grown that you have become more conservative in your thinking. I on the other hand have gone the other direction. I now attend a local Southern Baptist church. Even though I don't agree with their teaching of "free will", or the idea that I have to be rebaptised to be a member of their congregation. BUT the Bible is faithfully taught in this church. I was as strict as you are on your beliefs but over time I've learned that there is NO perfect church.

Our family started the local OPC church in the mid 70's and I attended there until 5 years ago, when I left because it started having really bad problems.

<<<In any case That is my church history minus a few details. I have met G I Williamson he has visited my home and we use the RPCNA Psalm book at our church and in my studies at home.>>>

It's a small world Brian....the teachings of G.I. Williamson are what destroyed our local OPC church. One of our elder's wifes mother went to G.I. Williamson's church and that is how his teachings got into our local church. This elder started questioning everything from the chior to singing only psalms. That isn't what destroyed the church though. This elder started nothetic (sp?) counseling of the congregation as Williamson teaches and this is what caused the self destruction. The real problem I had with the OPC though, was that they literally thought they had the perfect church. They basically said that you had to be a member of this particular denomination to be saved, which I think is a horrible mistake. I have good friends in several denominations that are better Christians than I am.

I'd better run for now.

Paul
