Telecom NZ Announces New Management Roles, Mobile Unit
WELLINGTON -- Telecom Corp. of New Zealand (NZT) Tuesday announced a combination of management and structural changes which include the setting up of a new unit MobileGroup to deal with issues regarding mobile telephones.
Telecom Chief Executive Theresa Gattung said MobileGroup is being separately established to ensure that the strong growth seen over the past 12 months in this business continues.
"The group will integrate mobile engineering and network development with sales and marketing, and will also take responsibility for managing Telecom's relationships with its mobile dealer chains," Gattung said in a statement.
"I want to put a greater focus and accountability into this critical part of our business and want to be able to more clearly demonstrate its performance. I know we can drive growth through increased penetration and usage," she added.
Gattung said a critical part of the mobile phone business moving forward would be the transition of customers to the CDMA, or code division multiple access digital technology, while at the same time delivering new services.
Gattung announced several management changes including the appointment of:
-Kevin Stratful as Group General Manager Sales and Service. He will join Telecom early in the new year from his current position as managing director of Freightways Express Ltd. (A.FWE), a New Zealand freight distribution concern. Stratful in March resigned from New Zealand brewing company Lion Nathan Ltd. (A.LIO) to pursue other business interests in liquor retailing, before taking on the Freightways position.
-Mohan Jesudason as General Manager Mobile. He is currently General Manager Business.
-Mark Ratcliffe as General Manager Voice and Data. He is currently General Manager Product and Service Development.
-Karyn Devonshire as Chief Stategy and Information Officer. Her role will expand to include leadership of development of Telecom's online systems.
-Graham Mitchell as General Manager Xtra, Telecom's internet service provider, reporting directly to Gattung.
Jesudason, Mitchell and Ratcliffe will join Telecom's executive group.
Gattung said Stratful will bring a strong customer focus and proven marketing and communications skills to Telecom.
"At the same time the inclusion of three managers in my senior team who are directly accountable for our major growth areas - mobile, data and the Internet - means we will have a strong collaborative focus on these key business areas at the most senior levels going forward," she said. |
